Approaching the famous pinnacle ridge of Liathach, Glen Torridon, Scotland. This is a spectacular hike through wild scenery that includes some difficult sections of scrambling. It was definitely one of my most memorable mountain days. Shortly after I took this, it started to snow, then hail, then the sun came out.

In the far north-west corner of Scotland, in the county of Sutherland, is the mystical land of Assynt and its iconic mountain Suilven - a ridge of ancient sandstone standing mighty above the primeval bedrock littered with lochs. It is a place of legends, a wilderness where solitude, if sought, can truly be found.

Perhaps my favourite view... Loch Leven and Kinlochleven from the Mamore estate landrover track way up in the hills. The small pointy hill on the left is Sgorr na Ciche - this being Gaelic for, basically, "Tit Mountain". When the Victorians, obsessed with cataloguing everything, came across this they recorded it as 'The Pap of Glencoe' - 'Pap' apparently being the only socially acceptable term they could come up with. Funnily enough, on more than one occasion I've heard visitors pronounce the word 'Mamore' as 'Mammary'. This is wrong, unless I've not been keeping abreast of changes in pronunciation.
